Worrell Inc. is a 30 year old, award winning product research design and development company based in the US. We specialize in Ethnographic Research, Industrial Design, GUI design, Package Design, Engineering and transfer to Manufacturing.

Recently, Worrell has opened an Asian headquarters office in Shanghai, China. We are currently looking to build an extremely talented and energetic team that creates value for our clients through design. Sr. Industrial Designer

As a Sr. industrial designer at Worrell, you will work closely with the Design Director and clients to understand the requirements for the project in order to create a design plan. You will work closely with the Research team to be able to design a plan that will not only fulfill but exceed the client's expectations. You will also be the team leader on projects and help mentor and direct the Jr. Designers. You will be expected to work very closely with the Engineering department to help maintain design intent. You must be a natural leader and exude confidence, but you must also want to learn more. You should also have a good working knowledge of many manufacturing processes and be able to work through design issues with engineering and manufacturing teams.

Skills and Experience

Ability to communicate well in both Chinese and English

5+ years Industrial Design experience
Excellent visual and verbal communication
Strong sketching ability
Demonstrated proficiency in both 2d and 3d CAD to fully document design intent (3D rendering and Photoshop / Illustrator)
Ability to train and lead younger less experienced designers by example on best practice and design methodology
A refined sense of proportion and design detail
General knowledge of human factors and ergonomics as it relates to Industrial Design
Understanding and ability to translate design research into design solutions
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with a cross functional team of engineers and manufacturers to solve problems related to production
Vast knowledge of materials and manufacturing techniques
A passion for design and willingness to take on new challenges
Other design skills or interests such as graphics, video, web, GUI design or photography is a plus

Jr. Industrial Designer

We are looking for the most innovative and creative designers who have superb 2d and 3d skills. You must be excellent at translating design research and ethnograghy into design solutions. Your visual presentation skills must be best in class. You also must be energetic and passionate about design with a desire to learn and improve even more. We are looking to develop future leaders and want to find designers who are up to that challenge.

Skills and Experience

Skills
At least 3 years of design school.
Ability to communicate well in Chinese and/or English

Lots of energy with a desire to learn and do whatever it takes to help the team succeed
A passion for design and willingness to take on new challenges
